Literature Arabic is one of the world’s major literary languages. French and English letters sit in Lebanese streams as well. This is not a people without letters. Poetry is prestige in some rooms. The Qurʾan is recitation and scripture in Muslim rooms — not a literacy test you give a dialect-speaking elder in the lobby.
