The National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services, published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health. Public. Permitted use: cite, link, follow as a frame for language and cultural access planning.
Owner and publisher: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Minority Health. Status: public federal standards.
Purpose: fifteen standards for governance, workforce, communication and language assistance, and engagement, continuous improvement, and accountability.
Limits: standards, not a plan. Fidelity depends on local implementation and community review. Cultural material still needs sourcing and humility.
Program use: the language and cultural access planning aid uses the standards as its frame.
